Our pride is seeing your joy each visit on our Smile Journey!
L Matthew Schofield, DDS, MS - Board Certified Orthodontist
Dr. Matthew Schofield is YOUR orthodontic expert to design and develop a healthy, confident smile. In addition to completing his American Board of Orthodontics certification, an accomplishment achieved by only a third of ortho specialists, he is the first fellowship-trained hidden braces (i.e., lingual braces) orthodontist. Before private practice, he completed his three-year residency program at Columbia University in New York City as chief resident. In residency, he earned both prestigious clinical and research excellence scholarships. Previously, as a dental student at NYU College of Dentistry, his ethical and academic performance qualified him for induction into the national dental honor society, Omicron Kappa Upsilon (OKU). But his greatest academic honor was to give the valedictorian speech at the famed David Geffen Hall at New York’s Lincoln Center at graduation.
Life experiences like humanitarian service trips to Grenada and living in the Dominican Republic have provided Dr. Matthew with rich cultural perspectives that help him relate well to a wide diversity of patients. Specifically, his fluency in Spanish is invaluable for working with Hispanics in DFW.
During your initial exam, watch Dr. Matthew light up when he sees the potential of your smile! He can hardly contain himself when he realizes what your smile can become and all the benefits it will provide. A beautiful smile is a secret weapon in life that boosts your health and confidence. Dr. Matthew can't wait to give you the smile you've always wanted. The most satisfying aspects of practice for Dr. Matthew are the relationships developed with patients and the genuine joy they feel the day active treatment is completed (i.e., the day braces are removed). Nothing compares to the excitement of a new smile! Rave reviews online further confirm Dr. Matthew not only provides excellent clinical results but does it with empathy and enthusiasm.
When he's not playing with his family including four beautiful children, Dr. Matthew enjoys all sports, preparing for obstacle course races and playing the guitar.
